Fall is almost upon us
June was not a good month.

Wildfire season typically runs from the end of May through September, but fires are already causing problems in places like Arizona and New Mexico, Colorado and Texas.
Not good at all.
In late May a single-engine plane crashed in the mountains. The Deputies were really cool about access. In fact, the only restriction I had was that I couldn’t go in the helicopter with the rescuers. It was kind of boring, though, since I was basically standing around waiting for the helicopter to land. Everyone on scene was under the impression that they would be bringing the patients back to the landing zone, but they just flew them straight to the hospital. So all I really got pictures of was the chopper taking off and landing several times.
Cody Volunteer Firefighters (from left) Barry Cook, Troy Jones, Chief Jeff Steward, Asst. Chief Bryan Reiter, Sheriff’s Deputy J.J. Schwindt, and Cody Volunteer Firefighters Dale Nauyoks (cq) and John Cordes survey a map trying to figure the crash site after a single-engine airplane carrying two occupants crashed about 10 miles northwest of Younts Peak in the Shoshone National Forest on May 21, 2011. After a nearly five-hour operation involving Cody Volunteer Fire Department and West Park Hospital personnel, with assistance from Park County Search and Rescue, the two patients were airlifted to West Park Hospital by helicopter with trauma injuries.
Here’s what I did in May.

I certainly am aware this blog still exists. I’ve been meaning to get to it for a couple weeks, but every time I think about it, I remember my hard drives are at the office still. Until then, here’s a quick photo I shot tonight from the end of my street of a storm rolling past just North of town.
