I work a lit of late shifts, so the night cops reporter and I are getting to know each other pretty well.
A detective surveys the scene after a car traveling west in the eastbound lane of I-70 collided with a van on August 17, 2010. The female driver of the car was taken away in critical condition while the man driving the van escaped with minor injures. Police were unsure how long the car had been traveling the wrong way on I-70.
The sad thing about living in the city is that spot news is limited only to events that leave people dead. The paper would need a whole new section and an entire newsroom to chase all the near-fatal shootings and stabbings. There are three scanners in the newsroom all listening to the same channels just to try and keep up with all the radio traffic. The other night we got a call about two possible bodies found outside a home on the south side, so the cops reporter and I headed over there. Turns out there was only one body and the longer we stayed the longer it looked like a suicide and not a crime, so I turned in some photos just in case foul play was discovered.
I could smell this one from down the street.
A body was discovered inside 771 S. 22nd St. in Columbus on August 16, 2010. A neighbor called police after she went to check on the homeowner and noticed several days’ mail in the mailbox, flies collected on the window and a very strong odor coming from inside the house. Because of decomposition, investigators on the scene could not immediately tell if the body belonged to the woman who owned the house, or her grown son, who was living with her.
Columbus Clippers left fielder Drew Sutton makes a sliding catch against the Louisville Bats on August 15, 2010 at Huntington park.
I got a fever, and the only prescription is less Justin.
